About
About this blog:
I started this blog at the start of 2008, after losing my free webspace hosted by my former school. So, finally I bit the bullet and paid for a “real” website and domain. Pretty much made up a name for it, installed a WordPress blog, and I’m off.
About the blogger:
My name is Joe Stierman and I am from Detroit, MI. I am 23 years old and am a big fan of film, obviously. Japanese film in particular. I have some level of fluency in the Japanese language, though I still leave on the subtitles so I don’t have to back up and turn them on every time I miss a few words. Ju-on is the first movie that really got me into Japanese film and especially asian horror, which I still love.
I graduated from the University of Michigan, majored in Actuarial Mathematics, and work for an insurance company. I took one class on Japanese cinema, which was really a study of the history of the cinema. So I love movies by Yasujiro Ozu, for example. Apart from this and a few critical literature classes since high school, I have no other film knowledge or experience.
